2026 Day-Hike Series Details

DATES:

Saturday, January 24

Saturday, March 7

Saturday, June 13

LOCATION:

Multiple locations, see below.

# OF ATTENDEES:

15-spots per date.

Join us for seasonal gatherings as we explore local trails and ecosystems and discuss various survival options. Each date features a destination hike—so come prepared with your day pack, packed with the 10-essentials and a curious mind. During our wander, we’ll talk about themes like maintaining a positive mindset, making fire in rainy conditions, and building primitive shelters, all while immersing ourselves in the landscape and honing our navigation skills. Participants must have good mobility to walk several miles over varied terrain, along with a passion for group learning. This informal activity is designed to help us become more familiar with our environment and learn how to live comfortably within it.

WHAT TO EXPECT: Please wear layers for all seasons, pack water and snacks for a half day venture. The hiking is considered moderate (some locations have quite a few stairs), though we’ll be stopping a lot to look at water features, plants, geology, and how to use the surrounding resources in a survival situation. Rain or shine we’ll be out experiencing the nature of things. You will need a Discover Pass for two of the locations, see below.  Attendees will provide their own transportation. Please bring your own brown bag lunch.

PLEASE NOTE: We will not require a registration fee, but strongly encourage participants to make a donation as all (tax deductible) contributions help us to provide these types of activities . Registration is required.  If you need to cancel after you have registered, please send an email to: info@washingtonoutdoorwomen.org.
